Worsted yams DC and LC, 9 oz. each, for size 30 x 30 inches, plus edging all around.

STEPS

1. Ch 100 sts with DC and work in BS alternating colors until it forms square. Fold it to form a

triangle to be sure. 2. Bind off with DC on PU row.

FIRST EDGING Fig. 1

Follow instructions for first sc edging on sample swatch; but for larger pieces it is necessary to dec the 4^th and 5^th sc along the starting chain row and also the bound off row. This is done to avoid a looser edge than on the sides where sc sts are farther apart, 1 sc for each color row. This makes all sides about even. Do 2 sc on all corners.

After turning corner on the starting chain row, do * 3 sc, do the 4^th and 5^th tog, YO and pull through, rep from * to next corner. Count sc sts to check number on row. Continue to starting corner, sl st to join to 1^st sc. Edges should match opposite sides.. Starting and bound off rows should also match each other. They may differ 2 or 3 sts from side rows, not enough to be noticed.
